Born in Las Vegas and raised in Los Angeles, Eric McClenahan grew up thinking his dream was to play professional football. After earning a scholarship to play quarterback in college, his life completely changed on the night he saw the massive hit musical “Wicked”.  Immediately he felt something in him open up and turn on - he knew at that moment that football was no longer his dream. He immediately began researching who the players were who was creating the musicals that moved him so much, and those included Tim Minchin, Alan Menken, and of course, Stephen Schwartz (just don’t ask Eric how many times he’s seen “Wicked”...).

Fast forward a few years, and McClenehan has been hard at work in the songwriting and playwriting business, having now been the songwriter for seven musicals, and he isn’t stopping there. His creativity reaches beyond the stage and onto the silver screen. He has written and produced two award winning short films, both of which included original songs. In addition, he was the writer/producer for the upcoming television documentary, “The Determined” which focuses on the six Southern California athletes who qualified to travel to Abu Dhabi and Dubai to represent the United States in the 2019 Special Olympics World Games. Traveling with the athletes, documenting their events, and experiencing the Middle East was the adventure of a lifetime.  The documentary is set to be released later this year.

In addition, you can hear Eric co-hosting “Healing Conversations” on 790KABC with Dave Roberts every Sunday. This experience helped inspire him to launch his own podcast in 2020 called “The Whole Elephant”.  Through his podcast, he has had the pleasure of interviewing guests from all areas of life, such as Tish Cyrus and Tim Minchin, to Megan Nicole and Tyrone Wells.

Throughout it all, Eric has discovered that instead of being just one thing, he is more: he is truly a creative; be it a musical, short film, documentary, radio show, or podcast, Eric excels in creative situations.

McClenehan lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Raquel, and daughter, Kadence.
